On these pages, prospective authors of KI Journal will find useful background information.

Submissions to KI

Springer Online Submission

Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times and shortens overall publication times. Please follow the hyperlink “Submit online” and upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.

The online submission system is available here.

Springer Manuscript Submission Instructions

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation. See the complete Springer instructions (open the “Instructions for Authors” tab).

Formatting Instructions

Articles should be submitted in LaTeX format or in Word.

A special Word or LaTeX style can be used  to create contributions for KI. This style is not intended for the creation of print-ready versions. Instead, it allows writers to gain an idea of roughly how long the article will be and it makes final editing easier for the publishers. Articles for KI that have been created with LaTeX will be compiled again from the publisher before printing. It is, therefore, important to supply the publisher with all LaTeX files.

For your convenience, Springer has developed macros and templates to help you prepare your KI article. The document templates provide predefined style formats for all the types of content that are part of an article. It can be used with Word 2000 and higher or LaTex2e, respectively.

In order to submit an article in the LaTeX or Word format we provide a special KI LaTeX template including some information about the correct usage. The KI editors have developed a special KI Latex template which is more convenient to use than the Springer template (thanks to Ute Schmid).
